Loftia pets: adopting, caring for and dressing companions
Pets unlock free as you progress, the adoption step comes from the main quest, and only the Supporter Pack pet costs anything beyond the game.
Can you adopt pets in Loftia?
Yes, and you do not pay for it: pets unlock in game as you progress (Steam thread).
The adoption step is part of the main quest, so follow the quest log rather than a fixed district; a community thread places that step in the Hanging Gardens. The district itself is introduced in the region guide, and the story gate before it is in the unlock order.
Is any pet paid-only?
One. Greeny, the robot pet in the Growing Together bundle and Supporter Pack, is the only companion behind a purchase. Kickstarter-era pets such as Wheelie and Waddle are campaign rewards rather than shop stock.
Everything else in the Backer Boutique is an accessory or a style for a pet you already have. That is why a pet-themed listing is not a shortcut to adoption.
A pet outfit is separate from adopting the animal that wears it. See pre-registration and Demo rewards for the campaign items and account-linking steps.
Which pets have been announced?
The Steam game description names capybaras and turtles, alongside other animals. It describes rescuing and adopting animals, then bringing them along as you explore.
The community Hidden Gaming Lair pet index also lists dogs, cats, alpacas and ducks. Companion entries are listed separately from styles, clothing, accessories and emotes.
| What you are looking at | What it represents |
|---|---|
| A companion such as the announced capybara or turtle | An animal to rescue or adopt |
| A pet style | A cosmetic appearance for a companion |
| Clothing or an accessory | Something a suitable companion can wear |
| A pet emote | An animation or interaction entry, rather than another species |
What can you do with your companion?
The announced pet activities are care, petting, dressing up and building friendship.
Housing for a companion is a separate craft: the Basic Habitat is a Project Station level-2 recipe that costs Flexible Lumber 2, Resin 2 and Jute Fabric 2, and its inputs run through the Refining Station. Check the recipe finder for the chain before you commit a stack of refined lumber.
When comparing outfits or rewards, read the listed contents and compatible pet before claiming or purchasing.
Are pet outfits part of the cosmetic shop?
Qloud includes pet accessories and styles among the optional Backer Boutique items. The developer describes the shop as cosmetic-only, with no effect on gameplay and no gacha mechanics. The buying guide compares that shop with the base purchase and Community Pass.
The Community Pass adds cosmetic rewards from World Projects. Its rewards remain available after a project finishes, according to Qloud. Read each reward’s contents rather than assuming that a pet-themed icon grants an adoptable animal.
