Loftia seeds and watering: tool wheel and refills
Find the seeds a quest gave you in the Tool Wheel, refill the watering can at city stations, and plan around growth timers and the Advanced Watering Can.
Where did the seeds from the quest go?
They are in the Tool Wheel, not in your hands. Hold the wheel key, choose the seed packet, then sow. Seeds do not equip themselves, which is how a quest packet ends up looking missing.
The missing carrot seeds thread describes the same fix with the keyboard binding: hold R and pick the packet from the wheel.
- Hold the Tool Wheel key until the wheel opens.
- Select the seed packet the quest gave you.
- Aim at a garden bed and sow.
- Switch back to the watering can and water the bed.
Tool items do not always equip themselves the first time, so if a tool refuses to be selected by the quick-swap key, open the wheel and equip it once from there.
How do you refill the watering can?
At a water station in Loftia City. When the can runs dry, the game prompts you to go into town and refill, and the interaction is a fixed object rather than any water surface.
A refill station can also be built on your own island early on, which removes the trip; check the Project Station list for it. The can itself upgrades separately: the Advanced Watering Can is a Project Station level-2 recipe that takes your old can plus Plastic Sheet 2 and Metal Plate 2.
Why does watering stop working?
Two likely causes, both cheap to check:
- You watered the ground beside the bed. The charge is spent and no plot is watered, which is how a can runs dry halfway through a row.
- The can is empty. Refill at a station instead of clicking more beds.
If neither fits, the troubleshooting notes list the known fixes; new problems go through the official bug report form.
How long do crops take?
Crops usually ripen within about 20 minutes, which keeps the plot from deciding your session length. Each seed’s tooltip lists its own time.
A fast cycle matters for the economy rather than the farming itself: every harvest is a Shipping Bin item. The make money guide explains what to cook before selling, and the cooking guide covers the dishes that ask for crops.
What about tool slots?
Tools and seed packets share the wheel, so filling it with tools leaves little room for seeds. Number keys select whichever item sits in that wheel position, so two people can describe different keys for the same tool.
Keep the Hammer, the watering can and the seed packets in the slots you use reflexively, and leave the fishing rod and repair wrench for when you go out. More on the tool wheel layout.
How does this connect to hydroponics?
Hydroponics is the later growing tier and does not remove the watering loop; it changes what you grow in. Trellises and the Hydrofarm are covered in hydroponics, and the farming loop itself — beds, permits and shared plots — is in farming.
